Hello everyone...

Just spent sometime looking over this wonderful forum!

Found out about anysoldier.com from an email about a week ago.. Since then my family has organized a Holiday shipment to various soldiers to replace our gift exchange this year. I do not see this being a ONE time shipment!

As I sit here typing this I have 2 boxes ready to go tomorrow. Well almost still need to fill out the post office documents but I have printed my facts in case I run into any problems tomorrow!

Hi, I just want to introduce myself. My name is Jessica and I live in Northern California with my husband Robert and our two children Ella, 3, and Brennen, 3 months. (My mom is Deni Dax ). My husband was in the army for a little over a year when he was honorably discharged due to an injury he received during training in Georgia.

I feel it is so important to support our troops. Whether it is with prayers, words or actions. They need to know we are behind them and that we appreciate what they are doing and what they are sacrificing. That is why I am so glad this website was created. It helps those of us figure out a way to help when we may not have know where to start. I had a small taste of their life when my husband served, and I have the upmost respect for them.

So I just want to say "thank you, thank you, thank you." For fighting to keep us safe and them free.

Hi, my name is Kimberly and I am new to this site. I found it about 3 weeks ago and have sent out several letters. I will be sending out my first care package this Friday.

About myself, I am 41, divorced for a long time now and a parent of an adult son which I have raised on my own. I work as an office manager for a small company and since I have found this site it seems that is all I talk about. I am going to college to get a certificate in American Sign Language and hope to one day be an interperter for the deaf. I have several friends who either are serving in the military currently or are now out and it always amazes me how much they give up. When I first logged on to this site I read the disclaimer that reading this can be addictive and cause tears and or great pride in those that are serving. Boy where they right! I check this site everyday either before I go to work or on my breaks. All I can say is I enjoy this site and reading what everyone has to say.

Just dropping in to say hello. I've been lurking on the boards here for awhile, and I've been a supporter of Any Soldier for a couple years now.

My name is Maria, I'm from Wilmington, NC. I'm an Army brat, my dad was career Army and did two tours in Viet Nam. My brother was in the Army as well. I work for an Environmental Consulting company and the majority of our work is with the military. So, I guess it's only natural that I felt drawn to this site and to helping out the soldiers.

The support and friendship everyone on this site gives to the military overseas and to each other is awesome! I'm proud to be part of it.

I actually found this site trying to decide what to send my nephew in Kuwait. He is only 20 and is in the AF. He doesnt send much request to his mom (my sister) I think he is trying be the big bird out of the nest. Between my sister and I we probably sent him enough to open his own BX store. I didnt realize how little some of our troops have until I started reading the AnySoldier site I sent two boxes right away trying to beat xmas rush. One of the boxes has soap and toothpaste togethor. I thought that the tube would provent the aborbing of the soap scent. Hope it does. I did know enough to put the snacks in a totally seperate box. I used magizines that I asked for at work(I work with 90% men but dont worry they kept it G) and local newspaper to line the bottom, sides and top of the boxes instead of packing material, no space is wasted, everything is usable to the guys. The newspapers are laid flat on the bottom of the boxes. I sent these SAM thinking I was sending them early enough. I paid extra for tracking and they still havent delivered. I have already sent another box this time the flat rate. I couldnt believe how much I could pack in one of those. Im convinced there isnt a square inch of air in that thing. I am always thinking of things that I could send. The guys we are sending stuff to live in tents with 220 electricity. He didnt even say if they have microwave or not. I guess Ill wait and see. I have two daughters in the JROTC program here in Wichita public schools. I sent the guys pictures of Veteran day ceremonies the kids had and the Parade. How much personal information is too much to send? I wrote them about my kids rank and schools. I have one of the teachers that is going to have his cadets write to the guys after Xmas holiday.

Hello, I am scared.. My boyfriend wants to go into the Marines, but my fears, is that he will not make it through boot camp, but every onelse that I have talk to says that he will be fine. But only time will tell, right!!! I love him with all my heart, but I dont if he will be able handle being away from me ffor so long, he normammly doesnt go more than a day without seeing me, I dont if, I can go taht long with seeing, but I am sure I will fine, but I don know..

Hello Everyone!

I have been sending care packages through AS since late September 2007. Prior to that I had supported a soldier through his deployment, I got his name through another soldier support site that just stopped answering emails or functioning. I found AS from an email that contained a link to AS in it and now I am so grateful I found it.

I really enjoy being able to find answers to my care package questions in this forum.

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I just found this site this year and I think it is so wonderful! I have wondered what to do to support out troops for so long and this site makes it so easy. I have received a letter and and e-mail back from the soldiers to whom the care packages were sent and was humbled. They truly appreciate everything. I'm looking forward to supporting our troops for as long as they need us! God knows we wouldn't have the freedom to do anything without them fighting for us.

Hi! I've been sending packages to soldiers for 4 years. My experiences with my contacts have been really great, and I thought it would be fun to share them with others who also support the troops. My Christmas packages have already been shipped, but I still plan to send as many cards as possible to soldiers I don't normally write to. My whole family, my employer, and my church have gotten involved with this cause as a result of my lobbying over the years. I can't think of a better way to celebrate the holidays!!

hello I've been sending packages through AS since December.I'm obcessed to say the least! I currently write a weekly letter to up to 10 groups a week .I'm on V1.8( Version 1st year letter 8) I find though that the hardest part is keeping them.i just encourage my troops with every letter to PLEASE check in every 30 days or so.I have lost close to 20 because they get dropped.but I treasure & take care of the ones I got.Although some have gone home YAY!!!

My question is how do all you great AS supporters put the pictures that I see on your responces? Or how do you put the wonderful sayings & quotes at the bottom?I know this has nothing to do with AS & it's a simple computor technique,I just want to be like all my fellow Junkies out there .Thank You To All Who respond

It has been a while since I last got really involved with Any Soldier. That was back in the days when I put the AnySoldier.com video together, posted in the Video Corner back in March of 06. I love this new section. It's good to finally have a chance to meet up with more of the community!

My family and I are in Texas. We just picked up our first soldier in about a year and a half. We used to have 3-5 at a time, but life intervened. My son-in-law is headed back to Afghanistan in January, so he and his unit will get the rest of our boxes. He and my daughter were both signed up here on their last deployments. My daughter is now out and attending cooking school.

Anyone else from the San Francisco Bay Area?

I am a single mom of three lovely girls. I work on a farm caring for horses, I enjoy working in my yard. I have been given a great amount of respect and care for out troops from my great grandmother . She worked at a Veteran's Hospital in WVa for over 30 years, my grand dads served, and I have friends who have served.

I wrote the following for all of them for Veteran's Day, feel free to pass it on.

I find myself sitting at home wondering what all is going on for the many soldiers today.I pray that they will all come home soon and safely!

Dear Soldier,

We are writing you today to express our gratitude for all that you were... all that you are...all that you have done... and all that you will do!

We can only "try" our best to understand what it requires to keep us safe at home. Yours, is a life with hard decisions and consequences.

Families are broken, bodies and minds are damaged, and lives will forever be changed or lost!

We want you to know that we appreciate and hold you dear to our hearts, everyday we think of you! To have someone be aware of all the horrendous acts of war and still be willing to stand in the lines on our behalf, says volumes about your true heart!

Every time we see our flag, we know of your sacrifices... your pain... your loss... and your love!

My name is Anne and I'm a full time domestic diva/homeschooling mom of three great kids. (my wonderful husband, two dogs, 6 fish and 2 snails round out our family) I found the Any Soldier site just about two months ago and think I became an addict within 24 hours! What an amazing place! I've laughed, I've cried, I've prayed, I've been in awe of our soldiers and all that they have been through and accomplished....The list could just go on and on.

I've sent about a package a week for the last month, and have gotten an email back from one of my soldiers, which totally made my day (week, month, year!) It's very rare at this point to go shopping and not come home with "just a little something" to stick in my "soldier bins" and I've got quite a corner starting to take over my dining room. I just wish my budget was as big as my desire to help! (I suppose most of us feel that way)

I've got my Any Soldier bumper sticker on my van, drink out of my "support junkie" mug, wear my Any Soldier pin, am gleefully awaiting the arrival of my calendar, and tell eveyone about this site. Today, I also put my first Any Soldier card on a van at Walmart. What an experience THAT turned out to be!! It just so happend that after I had backed out of my spot, I noticed the van to the left of me had an "I love my soldier" sticker on the back. I thought, "they need a card on their windshield!" So I pulled ahead in the aisle a bit, got out, and ran over and stuck one under the driver's wiper. As I was getting ready to pull away, I realize that the owner of the van is now standing next to his vehicle giving my van a REALLY unhappy look. I couldn't have that! I decided to go talk to the guy. Turns out, he was the soldier that was "loved" (Army National Guard) and he thought I was putting my insurance info under his wiper because I had hit his van! He seemed awfully relieved to find out that was not the case! Anyway, I got to tell him about the site and thank him for his service. It was pretty cool. (Ok, a bit nerve wracking, but cool)

My name is Rose. I'm 15 years old, and living in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. I've been doing Anysoldier for about a month now. I thought it was so, so cool because I didn't know a person could help out the troops so much, and I was so glad I had found a place to support them. I've sent three or four packages and letters, and about a week ago a soldier e-mailed me and said he and the other marines were so thankful for my letter. I was so happy he wrote back! Well anway, I think this is a really cool website.

Hi, my name is Matt, but my friends call me Mateo. I found this site earlier this year and have been writing letters to our troops ever since. I try and send the maximum allowed every day. Some days to go by though without a letter and it makes me sad. But I keep trying!

I am not, nor do I have any family, in the military. I just love that this site exists. It makes me so happy to be able to directly contact our troops and tell them how much I appreciate their sacrifice and work.

I wanted to join this forum to say thanks to all the families of those who are serving as well in case any of you read these. Your strength and love is unparalleled.
