Christmas Gift!

As we all know Christmas eve is coming, so i just need to share some ideas for Christmas gift with all of you as well need your recommendation as well suggestions.

I thought for women make over is the best gift i found, what you will suggest?, need your ideas, any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

McAfee SiteAdvisor throws warning on access to AnySoldier

Marty,

I use McAfee anti virus on my machine and it came with SiteAdvisor. McAfee test web sites on the internet and provides a green/yellow/or red light for each site. When I connect to AnySoldier, I get a yellow warning:

"In our tests, some downloads on this site tried to change our Web browser home page."

I doubt this is intentional but you might want to contact them here.

Wouldn't want this warning keeping away new supporters.

I'm sorry if this is addressed somewhere else in the forum or FAQs but I haven't been able to find it.

Is there a size limitation on avatar pictures?

I've tried uploading very small pictures that I use as avatars on another forum, but the pictures don't show up here on anysoldier.com.

Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

I feel like I have experimented 1000 different ways resizing my photo to be small enough but clearn, and I'm missing the mark. Right now I'm just under the 100x100 mark, and I'm all pixelated. I hate that! (although it does a good job of camoflouging the dark circles under my eyes... ;o) So I thought I would take a quick poll, if anyone remembers, what size their photo is.

Missing section

Could use some help please. Since the forum down time the other day, when I go to the forums the first heading, "From the Staff" only shows up with its little grey box and I have to click on it to show it all (like the last post, the threads. etc.). All the other headings come up just like always. I missed the challenge coin announcement because I didn't realize that part of the forum was missing. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? Thank you.

Including a link in a post

I read that photos are not allowed in our posts. Can a link be included? I made some chicken cards (see thread about sending other things - one group is collecting chickens) and I would like to show some of them. They are posted on a stamper's website.

Problem with Firefox

I'm having intermittent problems with a few sites displaying on Firefox, and this site is one of them. Please note it is NOT a problem with this site, which comes up fine with both Firefox and IE on our other computers. I am posting here on the off chance that someone has had similar problems and has some insight. The computer is a Dell laptop running Vista and connecting via TWC Roadrunner.

This doesn't need to be discussed on the forum, so PM me if perchance you have some wisdom to share. Thanks!

Adding a picture to a message

Save your photo to a small size and web resolution (be sure to name it something different so you don't overwrite your original - maybe "picture1-s.jpg" to mean small version of picture1). If you don't have an easy way to resize images on your computer, you can use a free online image resizer like www.shrinkpictures.com. See their example for an explanation.
Upload your image (60K or less in size is best if possible) to somewhere on the web for storage. If you upload them to a photo sharing site like Flickr, be sure to add the tag "anysoldier."
***Do not post pictures that include any soldier's address or OPSEC violations.***
Display the uploaded image in your browser and copy it's online address (select the address and hit Control and C at the same time).
Now compose your message, and click on the "Insert/Edit Image" icon on the message editing toolbar to insert the image. In the popup window, paste the image's online location by placing your cursor in the form field, then pressing Control and V at the same time. Think of the V as an arrow pointing down, like "paste it on down."
You should now see your image in your message!

This might seem a bit confusing the first time, but it's really easy once you try it. Use this post as your testing thread if you like.

Forum Sign-in required

Hi all,

Wanted to write a quick THANKS to Marty for always looking out for us. I signed in directly today from my handy-dandy freecause AnySoldier toolbar tool--had been gone for 5 days and thought... dang, now we must have to sign in, but that's probably good for security reasons... then I get to the News & Stuff page later and find confirmation.

Anyway... Thanks to Marty and the site support team, for continuing to be such professionals and for maintaining this Web site that we have all come to know and love so well.

Problems with PMs

When I reply to a PM sent to me, when I look in my inbox, it shows the recipient as me instead of the person I am trying to reply to.

I also have sent PMs where the recipient in my inbox shows as NA instead of the user name I am PMing.

What's going on? When I am replying to a PM, I click on Reply on the PM I have received. The person's user name appears in the To field but when I post the PM, in my inbox it shows my user name as the recipient. When I compose a new PM, I locate a posting from the person I want to PM, click on their name, and then click on PM. Their name shows in the To field but when I post the PM, NA shows up as the recipient.

Trying to change my private e-mail address and get an error message. I thought it was possible to change that private e-mail address? This is what I get:

How are some of you posting pictures in your posts? I am not talking about Avatars here, I mean an actual photo inside of your post text area. I've seen it done at least twice, and I can't figure it out...

Not getting soldiers

I am not sure what is going on, but I requested a soldier last night and the site said it was sent. So I went to my email and it was no where to be found. So I waited another 15-20 mins and checked it again. Still nothing.

Christmas gifts/wrapping

This information is probably posted in the forums but I can't find it. When sending Christmas gifts, can I use holiday wrapping paper or do I just enclose a card and ship the items right off the shelf - as is - and nothing to unwrap - kind of like airport security I'm guessing. Would great appreciate any information because I am starting to assemble and mail gifts this month.

I am suddenly getting bomboarded with emails when the Korengeal Outpost forum is replied to.. why? I have everything turned off (per the instructions) and it is just this one posting.. can you help me figure out why?

Nothing urgent, but I don't want emails for forum thread postings.
