    Problem with Firefox

I'm having intermittent problems with a few sites displaying on Firefox, and this site is one of them. Please note it is NOT a problem with this site, which comes up fine with  both Firefox and IE on our other computers. I am posting here on the off chance that someone has had similar problems and has some insight. The computer is a Dell laptop running Vista and connecting via TWC Roadrunner.

This doesn't need to be discussed on the forum, so PM me if perchance you have some wisdom to share. Thanks!

"I'm having intermittent problems with a few sites displaying on Firefox".  Do the sites not display at all?

BTW: I use Firefox on Linux and have no problems with this site.  My web page debugger showed some issues but they don't interfere with my ability to use this site.  Internet Explorer is written to somewhat different standards than all the other browsers.  Given that 97% of desktop computers run Windows most websites primarily focus on Microsoft standards.

The sites do display, but they are wonky.

You might try upgrading Firefox to the latest version.  I've found that when a new version of Windows rolls out open source software doesn't always work right.  I do have Vista but I was running IE on it.  I don't have internet at home now though so I can't check it out for you.

RATS!!!  My HTML editor simply refuses to allow the 'wonky' debugger to work!!!

Sounds like a good thing to me.  Microsoft pays taxes and the wonky debugger is free.  I wonder how many weapons Microsoft effectively bought for the military so the servicemen and servicewomen can go mow down the enemy :)

LOL Marty, it's always something with a website, isn't it?

As far as my browser, it seems to have cured itself. I've closed Firefox and logged in and out a zillion times today and all is well. Go figure.

    Maybe a holiday miracle?

Hey my wonky button works.Big Smile I too use Firefox and it is an experience logging on.  Wonky seems like a good word.Wink  I log in and the next screen says there is an error.  Then I hit the back arrow and the screen says I'm logged in.  This has only started happening since AS was updated not long ago.  Always keeping me on my toes ...never a dull moment.  Cool  That's what I like about this site.....and of course the GREAT people on here.

Heh. I've been getting that, too. I'm going to reinstall Firefox 'cause it has started seizing up. As a result, I have to log in about eight times to read one thread.

Again, just FYI, I think my issues are mostly local to me, not with this site.

    Re: Problem with Firefox

Hi Pam, I am getting the same problems for a week or so. I changed to Firefox because IE was wonky. Now FF is wonky. Every time I linked to something I would get all kinds of messages of some type of error. I think they change with every link I hit. So I'm back to IE for now. It won't (FF) let me check my yahoo account either . Good luck.....

    Re: Problem with IE, toolbar

The week of 12/15 my internet (IE-but NOT 7) slowed to a complete crawl. I actually took it to the repair shop, thinking I had been virus'ed.  I think that microsoft sent out some updates that were interfering with the toolbar. My machine was trying to load IE7 and I wouldn't let it. The repair guys, sadly : ( , took the handy-dandy-AnySoldier toolbar off, and everything went back to normal.

Maybe if there's anyone else out there with similar problems to those mentioned, report it here and we can have FreeCause post an upgrade to the toolbar if they have the instructions for the wonky debugger. : )

    Re: Problem with IE, toolbar

I actually e-mailed FreeCause this weekend due to some problems I was having and I have not received a response as yet.

I ended up un-installing the toolbar because I was having so many problems with getting routed to www.freecause.com every time I clicked on a bad link.  I would then have trouble with that browser session getting locked up.  I've had this problem ever since I installed the toolbar.  Now that I've removed it, it seems to be fine.

    Re: Problem with IE, toolbar

    JoCee,

Thanks for spelling that out. I am admittedly more mac-savvy, which is my work computer. Home, well, the PC does its thing mostly on it's own. I know there are more than 3 or 4 plug-ins/toolbars and the temp file was probably getting loaded up. I will do some investigating based on your advice--Thank you!

    News on this...

There is a problem with the RSS feeds.  Cryptic Geek stuff to most folks, but we found it and will pull the plug on that.

Also, a new version to be out today (fingers crossed).  Stand by for an update from me here......

VERY sorry for the troubles.  Never fails, we update to a new hyper-fast web server but there are always those few things that don't go right...  More soon.....
