News Release about the new Flat Rate Boxes

Here is the link to the USPS news release about the new FR boxes.  I posted it in another thread,  but wanted to make sure every one could find it easily.

I'm another one excited about a bigger box, and to get a discount is even better. Now us junkies may be able to ship that "kitchen" sink we have tried for years to ship! lol I can't wait, that means more Girl Scout cookies for my soldiers and a few more other goodies as well! Thanks for the info. Yes

When/where can we get the new boxes?  I'm so excited about this one!

Once the boxes are in production, we should be able to order as we did the other ones, off the usps.com site.  In the meantime, if you've made any friends with postal clerks, ask them to save you some :-)   (Seriously, the day before the original FRBoxes were allowed to be mailed, a clerk gave me a handful, so I'd be ready to go!)

Those new FRBs will be so great for sending to the larger groups so that we can send two boxes in place of three of the others - FEWER CUSTOMS FORMS - Yes

We will probably even slow down our mailing in Feb. and save a lot of them for MARCH 3!!!!

I am excited too! I was mailing my two large boxes out (yes, I know bad, but it had mattress pads, pillows and sheets) and she told me the new flat rate box is 12x12x6 (or 10) and is $10.95 for military and $12.95 for general use. She told me March 31.. two clerks said that.. Funny she is not my regular PO.. I have gone their a few times, but she OFFERRED this info when she saw where I was mailing (and of course I had to tell her about AnySoldier)..I just thought that was really nice.. should be able to fit more in there, that is about the size of the regular priority box now and I find myself using those more than the FRB, so this is good.  On average, I was paying $14- $17 for the other normal size priority box..

finally, the PO doing something for the military!!

The press release says March 3rd is the day we can start using the new boxes.

One of my P.O. clerks told me she'll be on the lookout for the boxes and let me know as soon as they get them. I can't wait!!!

Thanks for letting us know about this!  I have a lot of socks and shorts to send and can't wait to be able to send more in the bigger box!

Isn't it funny what can get us all excited!!!!  I was so glad to hear about these new boxes and the discount!  The shipping costs are the largest part of my AS budget.  I bargain shop for all items that I send so I always feel like I've gotten great deals as I am supporting my contacts.  The shipping really adds up though. This will be a nice way to send even more stuff and feel like I'm saving $$ on shipping!
