I agree.
I put that song on a CD for a soldier who was losing his "strength" so to speak after going through a lot.. no, it was not a downer CD but that song always holds such great words..just like Memorial Day.. it has turned into a vacation day for so many, rather than the true meaning.. just like so many other "holidays"
but some of us always remember.. funny you say that, yesterday.. I turned to my husband and said today is June 6th rigth? he said yes. I said for some reason, that day always sticks in my head.. I remember things that you would think I would forget.
and I said " hmm. well I remember it is XXX's birthday [ XXX is a boy I grew up with when I was a kid- 2 yrs older than me but a close neighbor and I have not seen him since he graduated high school in 1984] Also, it is our beloved dog's birthday who died last year..and, Isn't it D-Day? Funny, I am NOT the history person, but he is in a big way.. he could not believe I remembered.
so maybe that is why every year that day sticks out like nothing else.. hmm..
sorry that is my weird thought for the day :)
