    ICE SHAVING MACHIN (snow cone)

I sent one of these to my son while he was deployed.  It went over very well and served as an alternative for hydration.  I purchased mine from Target for about 19.00.  I also sent the flavoring kit along with paper cups, but my son said most just ate the shaved ice without using the flavoring..

I've thought about that, but I guess I need to ask them if they have a freezer to make ice with?!?

This is such a cool idea! I am going to have to check out what they have at my local walmart! Aren't there some ice cream makers that just plug in though? I'm just wondering? My fiancee has a tiny little fridge in his room with a mini freezer...

I kept looking at the icecream balls you roll around, but they all needed cream or half and half and I couldn't figure out how to do that.  Please post if you find one that just takes powdered milk and plugs in or something.

I picked up some packets of "ice cream mix" for strawberry, etc. from WalMart.  Instructions are to use 4 quarts of milk, only.  Don't see why they can't use powdered milk reconstituted.  Heck, after MRE's it's got to be better!  Just in case, I'd stick with chocolate or strawberry...not sure vanilla would cover the powdered milk taste...but, again, when it's 145 and you've been eatting MRE's I bet you would get no complaints...

I've seen those ice cream makers that don't require ice but the one's I've seen are several hundred dollars...  There are also things that you have to freeze the container first...  Alas!  Nothing easy.
