recieved first email from first soldier

I went to check my e-mail like i do every day and i saw a e-mail from a soldier named Captain Santus Rich. I was very shocked to see the mail. He needs a pal like me so i wrote all about my self. He seems very sweet and caring. He don't have his mom anymore so he hopes i can keep in touch with him and be his close friend and i will keep that promise. I told him how big of a supporter of the troops i am and thanked him for his service and protecting our country. I will continue to write him by e-mail but only when he has time is he to write me, i know he is very busy with his unit/troops. When i get a pic of him i will try to share with you all.  I will try to ask him for his mailing address where i can send a pic of me with my SOT shirt on.  Well, thanks for letting me share this with ya'll.  I am sure he won't mind you contacting him, i will ask him though.

    Jessica,

It felt like Christmas morning when you saw your first e-mail, didn't it?  It is so great that you are going to stay in contact with Captain Santus Rich, especially since he doesn't have his mom around anymore.  I am glad that you are going to be his close friend.  God Bless you and all of our troops.

    Hi Jessica

Indeed it is very hard when our contacts lose their own-- I have gone through that twice, and it is not easy.

The key is just what you said.. offer words of support but we can unfortunately never understand how they feel, but on a bright note it is great timing that your friendship started (I Am one that does not believe it is a simple coincidence) -

if you're like me, you'll start to care more than you ever imagined and begin treating them like one of your own family and worrying daily:) My contacts are used to me worrying so much  lol

tell him thank you from us all

I got a e-mail from him today. He is doing fine, for the past 5 days he said he has been sick. He thanked me for sending my condolences to him and his troops, the ones he lost were from his unit.  He knows you thank him for his service but i will gladly tell him anyway. I already treat him like a member of my family, it feels like i have known him my whole life. I told him that you send your deepest sympathy to him and his soldiers.  He does mean alot to me every since we first started writing and he said that means alot to him too.  I feel like i am attached to him as well.
