    Stuffed Toys

Hi, I am new to this web site, I am glad I found you through someone who collects care packages for the troops.

I know that some soldiers will accept stuffed toys to give to children in Afghanastan and Iraq.  I understand that they will not take dogs or pigs.

Can anyone provide me with specific soldiers to send them too.  I am not sure how many I will collect, this could get HUGE.  I will look through them all and make certain they are clean and look brand new!  So many of us with children have stuffed toys that are never play with and have no wear at all!

    Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the Junkie Forum.  With some of the units moving around or changing their missions so often, it is hard to pass on info that isn't entirely current.  You might want to check the hearts and minds thread first if you haven't yet.  Have you used the search form for toys or stuffed animals or humanitarian on the Soldier search?

    Re: Stuffed Toys

Hello and Welcome to AnySoldier and the Forums! We are glad to have you here!

Marty and all have done a really great job with this website. There is a nifty little search tool designed for exactly this purpose. There are 2 ways to access this search tool:

--Go to the “Where to Send” page. In the left hand column you will see “View Contacts Sorted By:”. Just to the right of that you will see a little magnifying glass.

    OR

--On the right side, scroll down to almost the bottom of the page. Below the AnySoldier tool bar and above “Show a Random Contact” you will see 2 search options:  Click Here to Search AnySoldier.com Contacts” and “Support Junkie Search Tool, Click Here.” Click on the first one. (You can check out the second one to see what it does but it will not help you in this instance.)
This will bring up the Search Form. In the box for “Requests and Email Contents:” type beanie (or just ‘bean’ if you want to allow for possible misspellings) or toys or whatever you think is appropiate for what you have.
Click on  –Search-  at the top of the page.
This will bring up a list of contacts that have the word “bean” (or whatever you entered) somewhere in their postings. Also provided is basic information about the contact….service branch, country, latest email, etc. You can click on the different contacts to read their requests. When you have identified one that you wish to support, go through the request address process.
I hope this helps. If you run into trouble or my instructions are unclear, just private message (PM) me or send an email. If you haven’t gotten so far as to figure out how to do that yet, just put a help message here! Happy Searching!

Bonnie and Gran, thank you for you help in navigaing the site.  It worked, I found a soldier who has been giving out beanie babies, I will contact her and see what we can do!  If that does not work I am sure another soldier will be found.  I must have been lead to do this for a reason!  Thank you!

Learned about "search" capability yesterday thanks to Gran, although not your directions.

What/how is the PM (private message) done?  I've seen other forum posters refer to it but had no idea what PM was.

    Thanks.

P.S.  What is the issue about stuffed dogs and pigs, please?

    EmpressFrancis,

For PM: Click on the 'Contact' button on the top of the post and select 'Send Private Message.'

For stuffed animals: Dogs and Pigs are considered unclean. Cats and bees are the cleanest of animals. I don't think kids really care, but the adults sometimes make a big fuss.

Also, after you sign in to the forum, near the top of the page by the search box you will see a line that says: (your user name), Edit Profile, Sign Out, Help, In Box . If you click on "in box" it will take you to where you can read any private messages that people have sent you.
