    Re: Christmas Requests 2008

Garage sales are a great place to find decorations.  I hit a grand one a week ago.  They must have bought out a discount store because they had loads of merchandise in original packaging.  I had picked up a stack of nice, lightweight yet durable-looking ornaments and beaded tinsel that totalled $2.50.  When they found out I was buying them to send to my soldiers, they gave me a HUGE box full at no extra charge.  I counted nearly 50 boxes of ornaments, tinsel, etc. when I got it home.  Now comes the fun of picking which units to send them to!

    Janet,

Yeah, last year we had a personal request from our special Arkansas hospital unit in Iraq, and I carefully picked the best of a color theme in various decorations at Dollar Tree to fill a box, then on the way home, hit two yard sales and for $1.25 got enough more to fill another box.

Thanks for the ideas on garage sales Janet and Gran.  Great idea.

BJ's has all of their Christmas stuff out too.  Found a big bag of cinnamon scented pine cones/with cinnamon sticks in the bag.  Packed in a mesh bag.  All I'm gonna say is - skip the air freshener - send the pine cones:)  Festive and useful!!!
