    Military penpals..

I originally posted about military penpals, I apoligize If I offended the site or anyone by posting it. I was trying to find soldiers to support as far as letters and emails to help with morale. That was it. Thanks

    Re: Military penpals

This is not really a penpal sight as such and we are told not to expect replies. That being said, the troops do love letters and some will respond. Send out a few support letters and see if anyone does want a penpal in the units you write too. Remember though that snail mail coming back to the states is extremely slow - it may take 3 - 4 weeks or even longer to get a letter back. That is why I usually put my email address on most of the cards and letters that I send - it is sometimes easier for them to respond that way! I have a few one sided letter receiving pals that email back their responses even though my letters to them come snail mail, because that is the easiest for them.

Try joining the Holiday card swap if you can - Card Swap #5. Your cards will go out to 50 different troops and that may increase your chances of getting a reply. Besides, it is lots of fun! Look for the thread on this forum under special projects and you can read how it works.  There are still plenty of slots left and there is still a whole month to complete the cards.

If you search the AnySoldier.com site, you will sometimes find a contact that specifically requests penpals.

    Re: Military penpals

Hi TS...I always check out the new soldiers requesting to see if I can help...there is a Cpl Eric Rader who is looking for Penpals...Got to "Where to send" to request his name for date Oct. 17

    Hello,
My name is Cpl Rader. I am currently serving in Iraq, and will be here for quite some time. My junior Marines and I are not only asking for packages, but also a pen pal. Some of my Marines don't really have family back home or someone to write to them. I know it would make my day to receive a letter from someone that I could write to, I know my Marines would as well.

Good Luck...I think these men would love a letter from you....Kathy

Hi TS.....Here is another solider looking for Penpals.  This one is also from Oct. 17.......Ryan M. Marchi

    17 Oct 2008:
We are at a small base near the Iraq border. We have basic need things for toiletries but lack in replcement razor blades, charmin, and basic non perishable snacks. Four of the troops are single and have no correspondence from stateside so a good penpal would be nice.

I am currently writing to a soldier right now. She is in the Army National Guard serving in Kuwait. I have been hearing from her for a good while now. Was looking in the yahoo database looking for penpals and found my name and asked me to pal with me and we have been writing every since. I have her on my myspace page if you want to know more about her. I have pics of her too. She does not want any care packages at the moment, said they get so many that there is nothing they want that they don't want. Got so many that they had to tell people to quit sending stuff. She just wants pals to write to at the moment. She is a Spc. I would love more soldiers to write to, preferably in Oklahoma.

I do really love getting letters but I am not so good at getting back in a timely manner.  I am better at returning emails.  I think that for me getting things like letters and emails make working in this job better and makes our time away from home a little easier to handle.  Thank you all for your support.

Hi! SPC Vineyard -- I just checked your AS page and your 50-day no contact warning is up -- uh-oh!

Please send an update to Support@anysoldier.com as soon as you can so your account stays active -- okay?

    Take care!
