I received my second free mail today! It is the 3rd different soldier that has contacted me....2 by free mail 1 by email! This was a postcard.....I know we shouldn't expect any contact from our soldiers, but it is so thrilling when we do hear from them!

it's so exciting to see "free mail" in the mail box. I received free mail just the other day telling me how excited he was to get his fav girl scout cookies the Thin Mints...I replied thanking him for taking the time to write and told him that us "junkies" get just just as excited to get "free mail" as he did to get Thin Mints!!....My free mail doesn't even make it into the house before it's read, I stand at the mailbox out at the street tearing open the envelope or reading the post cards.......

I got another one today....from another different contact.....very exciting!!

A great day today.....freemail and email!!!

ncbeth, I agree with you.  I've received responses in the last week (emails) from the contacts for the first 3 boxes I've sent and it was so exciting.  My husband says that I'm like a child on Christmas morning when I got the emails.

I haven't heard back from anybody in a long while so imagine my GLEE when I just logged on and got the nicest email thank you from J Vetter (who I just sent a package to last Saturday!!). It was a random assortment of goodies and magazines, and he honestly sounded so over the moon that he and his troops received  a package already. So heartwarming!!! Just had to share.

It seems to me that we have also had the experience of the most profoundly grateful contacts being the ones that we had sent the first or second package since their sign-up, or that we happened to send something that one of them was so crazy about.  Some of their favorites over the years has been at various times:  snickers, Fig Newton bars, marshmallows, Wheat Thins crackers, Moon Pies, chocolate candy bars (of course), coffee, flavored coffee creamers, strawberry twizzlers, winter socks,  (even white cotton socks), underwear, etc.

 This is Super to read NCbeth.  As a very wise friend on ehre once mentioned..Your heart just soars, doesn't it/. All the other mail, bills, etc just float away as you stand there and feel  a smile grow bigger than you thought possible.

 Sheila, thank you for your post. It's been ages since I have heard from anyone.  Many of my contacts just disappeared.  You have given me hope again, that there will be an email or letter.

My lucky day as well. My husband gave me the news last night when he picked me up from work. " Looks like you got some soldier mail" Sure enough, two Free mail letters from unknown contacts that had been thrilled with packages fowarded to them from my AS contact CSM Ronald Johnson. For those junkies hesitant to send to large groups, this man represents over 100 people but passes along packages and encourages replies from his soldiers.

 I got Free Mail today!!! 

My husband picked up the mail and came running in the door, shouting - We got a letter from the soldiers!  We got a letter!  He was even more excited than I was and I didn't think that was possible.

The great thing about receiving it is, the contact had just been dropped from the list so I was going to hold off sending anything to her until she updated or I heard from her.   I'll write back and remind her to update and continue to send care packages.

I am so relieved to know that they did receive the packages we sent.  The paranoid part of me has been a little bit worried that they may have gotten lost in transit.   

Today is a good day.

 In yesterday's mail I got a birthday card from one of my female Soldier, and a letter from one of our second-time adoptees. It was a good mail day...

I received my first Free Mail yesterday and it was so exciting.  It was exciting to know that they actually received the package and my package was the first mail she had received.  There was 1 female for the contact so I just sent a care package for a female Marine.
