Re: A box of American rocks

I did a search on the USPS site and below is what I found.  I'm not an expert so…  I think if on the Customs Form we put "decorative  rocks" we would be fine.  What does everyone think?  I'm going to decorate my rock or rocks ( paint, writing, google eyes) so I will be cleaning my rock up nicely.

Thanks for doing the research on any possible restrictions with the USPS. I think this is a fun and silly (which are always great together) idea.    I'm definitely in on this project.    I can just see Marty and the staff shaking their heads saying my "junkies" have definitely lost their "rocks"  Wink

Count me in.  I love a silly idea.  I hope they smile as much as I am when they get the rocks.  What about the letters?  Someone asked about writing to one specific guy each.  Are we doing that or just a general letter to the group?

    GA Junkie,
I'm soooo glad you live near Stone Mtn because I really did not want to drive out there and hike up the mtn!  Those cable cars freak me out.  I'm North of the city.  It's been years since I've been out there.  Can you get a pic of Bubble Gum rock also?  For those interested Bubble Gum rock is the large boulder at the top of Stone Mtn.  People stick their used bubble gum on it.  GROSS!!!

    Rosemary,
I'm going to wrap my decorated rock in something so it won't get messed up in the mail.  I'll put my letter in an envelope.  THANKS for starting the post and for being the rock collector!

We live near La Petite Roche (the Little Rock) on the Arkansas River in Arkansas, supposedly named by the French explorer la Harpe.  I guess that would be a contrasting pic to the big rock.

    Hi all!

I'm in!!  I'm going to send my rock on my own, not thru the group.  I went and "borrowed" one out of our local river and have found a bunch of postcards and brochures about the towns that are on the river near the area.  I have enough to fill one of those small FRB. Big Smile  Let me know when you guys are sending your's or when the collection box is being sent out, I think it would be fun if the boxes showed up around the same time.

Has any one picked a date for mailing our rocks?

That's probably a good idea...give us a deadline to work toward. I have my rock and a post card and letter ready to mail out to rosepeddles the first of this week.

Re: A box of American rocks

    Hi Folks,

I have not set an official deadline to send the rocks.  I am hoping that those who said they want their rocks to go in the FRB I will be sending out will send them fairly soon.  I will mail the box out when I get enough to fill a box.  I will post a day or two before the box goes out to give others who are sending theirs separately a chance to get them sent out around the same time.

Sorry for not posting info sooner.  Had some outpatient surgery and have become very popular with the local medical folks recently...I've got a doctor's appointment somewhere every day next week but the week after that his home free so if enough rocks have been accumulated by then, I'll get the box out.

    Rosemary
