     Hi Deb,

I'm not on your list yet.  Please add me.

On the other card swaps we made the  # of cards that equaled how made swappers there were.  Lately it's just been the # 30 picked.   With one month to go, I was going to make 20 and send 2 sets (40).

If you keep it at 30, no problem!    I'll just be making and sending one set.

          Thanks for hostessing!

Lucky I surfed through and found  this.....I almost forgot about teh due date, etc.

Balt, can you maybe post an updated list of all signed up for the Christmas Card Swap?

And, does anyone have any suggestions about how we could possibly send out a reminder? Start a new thread or something so those of us that tend to be "dain bramaged "  can have our memory prodded?

      Thanks for hosting this Balt!

     Cheers

     Amy

Hi everyone - I wanted to bump this up a bit for Balt since the due date is approaching fast. I see there are still slots left.

Since it has been snowing a bit here I am in a more Christmasy mood. My cards are actually done because my spouse actually signed a little over half of them for me!  (I am  holding off on mailing though because I am going to start collecting some extras from work and CAP this next week to send along to Balt.) All of mine are just traditional storebought cards just because I had tons of them in boxes that I need to get rid of. It is funny what I am finding 2 years after I moved -- but at least I got through the holiday boxes before the holiday instead of after - so I can actually use the stuff this year!!

Bye the way, all you card writers should look at the Red Cross program  for the wounded. Also Operation Write Home (formerly Cards for Heros) is looking for "Hero letters" too.  Think about writing up a few extra for those organizations as well while you are writing!!

I'm not exactly certain. I thought I read somewhere not to use glitter. But can't seem to find the page where I read details.

I have also read not to use glitter.   Seems like it mentioned the warrior getting glitter on him from the card could make him "glitter" so that the enemy can see him more easily (especially at night).  Also, I remember someone saying that people would put loose glitter in the card, and as we know the cards are opened many times before they actually make it to the warrior.  Sometimes the hostess reviews the card, then the card swap participant, and then the AS contact, and finally the warrior.

My suggestion is no glitter or light glitter if you must.

    Hi,

My cards aren't homemade, but they do have some glitter on them. I had thought that the ban on glitter was for cards going to troops in hospitals.  I didn't get glittery when I wrote them out, so hopefully the amount is minimal enough.....

    The glitter issue--

Hospitals don't want the glitter on cards because there is a chance that loose glitter will end up in open wounds.

Somewhere it was said that loose glitter can end up on uniforms and become reflective so it has been requested to not send glitter in or on cards and decorations.

Because we don't know the ultimate destination for our cards, it is better to leave it out, just to be safe.

My cards are done! Yay! I just have to print off the letter to go inside and can send them on their merry way! So, I hope to get all my ducks in a row and have them out to you by Wednesday. I didn't think they would ever get done.
