    Korengal Valley 2009-2010

I thought I'd start a thread for the new group. So far I have the contacts Bettis and Hull as being in that area. Please update names as you come across them

    Here's one --

    Greg J. Missman, U.S. Army, 10 males/1 female, 5 requests, posted June 4.

"Due to my position, anything sent that we can not use will be saved and taken up to korengal KOPs"

Greg came on the forum before they deployed.   He said he will be in a position to make sure things get out to the COPs.  I figure we'll see how it plays out.     There going to be more OPs, according to the plans, so there might be many address changes this deployment.    They are still getting integrated, and the turnovers will take a while.    Web connectivity is supposed to be a lot better.    The new COP P/K (Pirtle/King) already has connections.     It's going to be an interesting deployment.    At least this deployment, there are some old Afghan hands around in the ranks.

    Re: Korengal Valley 2009-2010

And so the fun begins again.  I, for one, am just as dedicated to this group of young men, as I was to their predecessors.  Prayers begin in ernest for them, asking to keep them safe, give them the strength & courage to carry on their mission, & to give their families the same courage to keep the homefires burning.

As our previous boys make their way home, I hope to remain in touch with several of them.  Special thoughts will always be within me for those that gave their all...

I raise my virtual glass in honor of those that are leaving that hell hole, & I wish much success to their replacements.  I also look forward to forging new friendships within this wonderful & loving "family."  So let's roll up our sleeves & get our work started.

    Hugs to all!!

    Big Hugs!

    Re: Korengal Valley 2009-2010

Tonight I will pack a box for Rob McAlpin with two sets of sheets, two mattress covers, 2 pillows and some Febreeze.  Will also send hygiene items as well.  He'll stay on my monthly rotation list for the time being -- he and his team seem to need all the help they can get!

I will request Greg Missman's name soon and will need to get Brandon Bettis' updated address too.

The joy I get from thinking about what the troops need and then packing the boxes is the highlight of my day -- but then I raise a crisp glass of white wine in their honor !!

NOTE TO ALL READING THIS OR ANY THREAD ON THIS SITE:

ANY further OPSEC violations will get that poster banned.  Period.

The excuse of "I didn't know" does not cut it and won't be tollerated here.

This is deadly serious.  Stupid is what Stupid does.

To fix that, read the info about OPSEC in the very top of this Forum in the Announcements.

I just deleted two posts.  Further problems in this area will cause me to shut this down.

NOBODY will die or even get a scratch because of something stupid on this site.

    Out.

    Thanks Diane.

My son (Hull) is the sole POC his unit. I will pass along any updates on packages received there.

    Re: Korengal Valley 2009-2010

I have half a dozen sheet sets going to Jacob Krueger and Branden Velazquez. Apparently the ones sent last year are kinda ready to be replaced! Ick! Word is they could use a few more and some snax too.

I'm also sending a water pot and box of ramens,ez macs, tuna pouches, protien bars, etc to Josh Fender.

Thought i'd mention in case someone has these guys too! We can coordinate. As far as posting goes, I think we're good namin the contacts and what we're sending, just nothing about who's together or firebases.

Dave, Hello! Welcome and thanks for the assist. Always an honor to have a parent of one of our brave warriors with us.

    Re: Korengal Valley 2009-2010

Thanks for the "sheet advisement" Shelly.  I have 2 sets along with pillows that I was going to send to Velazquez, so I'll re-direct mine to Jordan Martell.

I've also ordered 2 washboard kits for Brandon Bettis through the Columbia Washboard Company.  If he doesn't need them, he can send them to the other groups in the hinterlands.  I'll also send him several boxes of food (I couldn't control myself in the canned meat aisle at Sams yesterday!).

Happy 4th of July to everyone and don't forget to put your flags out (just in case you took them in after flag day)!  We're off to the North Carolina mountains to see if we can get into some cooler weather than what we've had lately in the steamy deep south.

I've been sending boxes of food to Brandon Bettis, too -- 3 boxes of Chef Boy R Dee ravioli and ass't other healthy snacks, drink mix, etc.  Another will be going out this weekend -- tuna, cookies, granola bars.

I also picked up Don Sheppard and sent a box of hygiene stuff and magazines for his females.
