There is going to be another PBS Frontline story about Afghanistan next week.  It says it will be on Oct. 13th.  It's called "Obama's War".  It looked like something we would all like.  It may not be on the same date for all areas, but it sounds like something to look for.

Just a question--I heard on the news last night that this outpost will be closing now. Will the stuff we send actually get to these guys?

If you send Items to Robert Wilson (AS Contact) they will get there, he is trying to get as many packages to these guys as possible 1st

I received an e-mail from one of my contacts at Korengal.  He said they are not getting much mail at all.  I sent him a bread machine which he received, but unfortunately they didn't receive the one with all the mixes.  Now they have a big old machine that has no use.  He said his unit wasn't involved in the the weekend trouble, but he had some buddies over there.  Luckily he gets to come home for some r&r next week.

    Re: Korengal Valley 2009-2010

Hi, I'm new here.  I had been sending to Cpt Kearney's unit but got away from all this when they rotated out of theater, saw some more recent news coverage and ready to start again with the current unit in the same location.  SSG Velazquez seems to be well-supported; are there contacts for any neighboring COP's?  I won't name them, 'cause I don't want to be scolded about opsec concerns, but I'm thinking of a city in Texas (D), a city in Arizona (P), and a fallen 173rd trooper (R).

And can anyone tell me if they have microwaves at the COP's?  Thanks!

     Mark,

There are lots of changes taking place out and about right now.   Your best bet is to go to "Where to Send"   When  the window opens with the names on the left side, click on "AnySoldier Search TooL"   in the upper portion of the window on the right side.     You can use this to search for specific COPs or FOBs.      Put the name of the COP in the address line.    Sometimes you have to work with it, but that is a good place to start.     Be sure to check the lastest posts, and change of address notifications, and how long it has been since some one updated.; as there are lots of changes occurring.

If you check Robert Wilson's posting of 10/26 you'll see that packages are already arriving.  I thought you all might also like to see what the blogger "TankerBabe" and the American Legion are doing for those troops:

Just a reminder...Like Marty says-CHECK those addresses before sending packages, particularly now!!

Lots of changes in the Valley folks!!

Be aware when the packages go out, send early as they may have to reroute if your contact has moved to a new location.  Even if you checked, the contact may not have had computer access to update you or Anysoldier.

Send sporadically, not all at once as there has been difficulties with mail getting through recently.

I just keep trying and don't send boxes or letters at the same time.  I don't want them all on one supply run-just in case.
