    Halloween/Fall Card Swap #12 - Due Sept 25, 2009

All right guys - here at last is the official posting of the list of participants and the rules. I am opening up 25 slots plus myself as #26. That way, hopefully, you will get back 25 cards from someone else and not any of your own cards back .

      1. Minimum of 25 cards please. Homemade or store bought - either are welcome.  ( If you wish to do more that 25 you may - I will use them to fill in for extras if we lack 25 participants or else send the extras in my own boxes to the troops.) Halloween, General Fall, and Thanksgiving themed cards are encouraged to be submitted.  Please address them in general terms to any hero or any service member so they may be sent to any branch of the service. Leave envelopes unsealed please. This is so that the other swappers can see and enjoy the cards and also so that swappers can forward them to an appropriate contact that will appreciate them the most.

    2. Remember not to put any strong political or religious statements in your cards so as not to offend. Do say Thank You or express your gratitude to the troops.

    3. Enclose either  $4.95 in postage stamps (prefered) or cash to cover the return postage to you - this is how you will get the swapped cards returned to you. You may also include a self addressed shipping label if you wish.

     4. Email or private message me to confirm that you want to be put on the list. I will email back my shipping address and contact information to you. Please give me a way to contact you as well (i.e. your email address) so that I can keep you up to date in case there are any snafu's or issues.

     5. Be mindful of the due date of September 25.  Be sure to mail them a few days before that in order that they arrive on time to me.  I will be sending cards back out on Tuesday the 29th  via priority mail envelopes so you should receive them within the first couple of days of October.

    6. Please keep any enclosures in your cards as flat as possible. I would like to discourage candy in the cards as well other than something flat like a stick of gum. I need to mail these in the flat rate envelopes and there is only so much that will fit in those!

Here is the list of those expressing interest so far (subject to emailed confirmations):

    1. Vicki V   (confirmed)

    Looks good Kathryn,

I have my set of 25 for Halloween done and  now I'm contemplating in signing up for 25 Thanksgiving cards.   I guess I'll wait awhile and see if another set from me is needed before sending them to you.  Is your address in Colorado the same as Card Swap #4 that I hosted?

I have some time............ due date September 25th you say.

I had signed up for the swap earlier but my name isn't on the list. Would you please add me?  Thanks!

Ah Joyce,  you beat me!   I'm still debating whether to send 2 sets or not.

Who's out there that hasn't signed up yet for this swap?

At the way it's going,  all I have to do is add a few cards and I will be sending 2 sets.

Count me in!!  I think that I'm going to do Happy Fall instead of specific Halloween or Fall

    Kathryn,

I'm thinking you might want to call it closed at this point and say 15 swappers are in this swap.   We can either add 5 cards to our total to make 2 sets or only send you 15 cards.  I don't know if this makes sense.  Perhaps the other swappers can chime in here and let you know what they'd like to do.   I know Joyce has sent hers in already.  What does everyone think?

I have not started on my cards (will this weekend when I am off work) ........so whatever the hostess (and majority) say....I'm along with it.    Has anyone contacted the other swappers to see if they are interested and just need a little "push"???

    Have  a great week.......

I mailed mine out last week.  Come on, fellow swappers!!!  Join in the fun!  If you're new - join the fun!  To keep my costs down, I made postcards.  I saved a little since I didn't have to buy (or make) the envelopes.  Basically, I bought some cardstock, cut it into postcard size and either printed a Halloween pic or put some stickers on it and wrote on the back.  Needless to say, not my most creative moment but still a fun card anyways.

    Hi,

I just got my cards done--25--yesterday and will mail them all. Kathryn, you can distribute them as you want, and if I only get 15 back that's ok.

I am still game for doing 25 unless you all want to do less. Looks like we may get some duplicates though unless a few more sign up. I don't mind duplicates myself as I can split them between several contacts. How about everyone else?

I am gonna try and get the Scouts to do one set add to the assortment along with my own - I think the troops enjoy hearing from the young folks anyway. ( I can throw in some blank cards too, if any of you all want some more. I still have a ton of those around my house.)

ok, well, haven't heard anything so will be sending 25 on tuesday, I hope. My truck broke down today, and we had to have it towed to the shop, which will not be open till tuesday. So, we are down to one vehicle and jobs on opposite sides of the city this week. funsies!

Nancy - I did get your postcards last week. They are cute - great idea.

Heidi - I know the feeling, our car need was down for repairs last week too. At least it was on my days off and I had plenty to do at home!   Anyway, whenever your cards get here is fine by me!!!

9 slots still open - any new takers?  Still a couple of weeks to write up some cards with a simple thank you!! Just get them in the mail before the 25th!! I will be picking up the mail on the 28th after my trip and sorting/mailing on the 29th/30th.
