    Young girls community project.

Hi everyone, just looking for a bit of help today. I am also a member of Navy for Moms, a grandmother of a 16 year old girl is looking for help. Dont know if its possible, I have suggested a local VFW and USO, but you guys have so much more experience, any ideas?  This is the post from N4M.

My 16 year old Granddaughter having problems shipping 24 care packages to Naval Personnel in Afghanistan, any suggestions?

She was able to ship 22 Military Personnel Care Packages for 2008 to Army National Guard Troops in Iraq through the Army National Guard, however, there appears to be a problem getting the 24 packages destined for Afghanistan shipped, and she is beginning to get frustrated, the packages are in flat rate postal boxes, only the shipping expense is needed, is there an organization that might ship them for her without charge to her? We live in the San Joaquin Valley area of California an agricultural region that appears to be oblivious to her community service project and her desire to say, thank you, to our Troops. Any suggestions are welcomed, because she had hoped to start asking donations for the 2009 Christmas Season for Troops Overseas, I hate to see her give up and start because of the obstacle when it comes to shipping off the military personnel care packages. Thank you, Her Grandmother

American Legion/VFW posts are great sources of assistance.  You might also contact a local radio station or a TV station, especially if one does stories suggested by viewers.  Writing a letter to the newspaper may also help.  If there are any colleges in town, some sororities and fraternities take on these kinds of projects for service too.

    Kathy
