I've been doing this since August of 2006. I really got started during the first Gulf War, when Ann Landers had a column about soldiers not getting mail. There was an address you could write to, and your mail would go to one of those soldiers. Back in August, I was getting rid of an old dresser, and when I pulled out the bottom drawer, there, stuck underneath, was my very first "soldier letter". It motivated me to DO SOMETHING, so I went to the internet, looking for that old program, not realizing how things had changed after 9/11. I found this site, and will be forever grateful that I did!
For fun, my husband and I have a bluegrass band. We are lucky enough to get to travel, so I'm hoping one day to meet some of my soldiers, and some of my fellow supporters.
