  • Amazing Encounter Today

Today, I was stopped at the main post office in Madison, WI.  A woman came up to my car and knocked on my window.  Startled me half out of my wits - BUT - This is the AMAZING PART - she is the sister of a former AnySoldier.com contact.  I have two of the big "I Support AnySoldier.com" yellow Ribbon magnets ...

  • My AnySoldier Boost

What boost?  When my nephew was deployed to Iraq I found AS and how to send him packages.  BUT WANTED TO DO MORE:  So I started requesting names and sending more packages and a zillion letters over the last couple of years,  BUT WANTED TO DO MORE, so I found out about Patriot Guard Riders.  I'm just an old lady in a ...

  • From "my" MSGT in the middle of the new offensive in Iraq

One of my soldiers, Msgt. Debra Bradshaw is in the middle of the new offensive in Iraq.  I wrote a note of encouragement to her telling her I was praying hard for she and all her soldiers.  She told me they had a WONDERFUL chaplain who sends them a message each day.  This is the message that Chaplain Peter Sniffen sent the soldiers ...

  • Re: First mission with the PGR

This morning was my FIRST mission with the PGR.  Great Learning Experience.  1)  Forget about the pictures you see of all the bikers standing around visiting out in the sunshine.  2)  Remember WHERE you live - it is warm in California, but I live in Wisconsin. Bikers aren't stupid.  They don't RIDE their bikes in ...

  • How About An AnySoldier.com Flag to fly over the bases?

I hope Mr. Horn is reading this.  Today I went on my first PGR mission to send off the 395th Army Reserve Unit from Appleton, WI.  They are an Ordinance Co and are traveling to Indiana first to join up with another unit and then to Afghanistan.  As a PGR member I was honored to hold a flag in the flagline (even tho it was 18 ...

  • For Those of You who Pray

I am requesting prayers for a Viet Nam vet undergoing colon cancer surgery Monday morning Feb. 25.  He has been the love of my life since we were 14 years old.  I'm a wreck but he's in great spirits - having faced death many years ago in the rice paddies of Viet Nam.  He figures this is nothing compared to how scared he was then, at ...

  • Re: Something really special

Tricia, that is absolutely Wonderful.  Not only what your students are doing for the soldiers, but that the soldiers get to do something in return.  That, I'm sure, makes them feel really special too. I have three soldiers still deployed who I am supporting (plus the groups with them).  Two are female.  MSG Debra and SSG ...

  • Re: You must be an AnySoldier Junkie if............

If you check online and see that the Federal Tax Refund has been added to the joint checking account my soon-to-be ex-husband and I still share.  He won't take my name off it.  So I can see it online.  Within 45 minutes of seeing that addition to the account I was inside the bank in the town that is 45 minutes away and had the cash ...
  • Stuffed Animals - Cheap

Target ''One Spot'' has really cute and nice stuffed animals for only $1.00 apiece.  The ''One Spot'' is the area in each store where they have items for either $1.00 or $2.50.  Don't send dogs or pigs - but there are lots of other little furry animals (soft and cuddly) that will squish into a soldier's pockets.  Mary
