Thanks for the heads up about the journals. Cafe Press has some funky stuff. I'll check it out.

  • Essay from the NY Times

This is a touching and beautifully written essay about a father and his son. Keep the tissues handy. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/08/fashion/08love.html?ref=fashion

  • Re: Shipping humanitarian items to APO/FPO addresses....

Gran, I was wondering the same thing. I have stuff for the kids and clothing piling up to send out! Marty...thanks for clearing things up. So much for "responsible" journalism! Thanks. Jen

  • Shipping humanitarian items to APO/FPO addresses....

Hi. Came across this article about shipping items for humanitarian aid. According to the article, it's a violation of the Department of Defense regulations. Huh?  http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/news/2009/11/military_mail_110709w/ I know most of us have sent things to our contacts to hand out to the children or to assist the local ...

  • Re: Christmas Gift!

Hi. In the past I've sent manicure sets I picked up from the local drug store...clipper/emeryboard/small scissors in each kit. I tossed in some cuticle cream, small bottles of nice smelling hand cream, foot lotion and a pair of cheery holiday theme anklet socks they could wear in their living quarters. I've also sent make up ...

  • Re: Beef Summer Sausage

I've seen Hickory Farms cheese during the holidays at Target but other than their web site or their stores, can you buy it anywhere else? I've sent Velveeta many times, even in warm weather, and they tell me it arrives intact. I think you're supposed to refrigerate it after opening some of the contacts didn't ...

  • Re: Pens

I was at Walgreen's yesterday and they put a bunch of office/school supply stuff on mark down. They had packs of Papermate pens, 8 pens per pack, marked down to 68 cents a pack, set of five highlighters for 99 cents.

  • Re: Christmas decorations

I live in CA and I usually use the FRBs because it's cheaper but once in a while, because of size of the item, I have to use a box larger than the large FRB. I've shipped parcel post in the past and sometimes, it gets to the same destination faster than the boxes that went Priority Mail which were mailed at the same time. If you ship ...

  • Re: Detergent for washing clothes~liquid or powder?

Hi Tracy: I've sent both liquid and powder form in the past. I know some of contacts will specifically request powder form. If you buy the small boxes of powder, it's usually more expensive than buying a big box of powder so I'll toss in a box of small zip lock bags so they can scoop out a load's worth of powder. Also, some ...
