Bob,
Make sure you meet Sgt. Turner and Sgt.'s Trudell & Thompson. (I'm guessing you already have!) I was just there last week, what I shame I missed you by such a short time. Have fun at "the Great Place" make my son by you a beer.
Good on Ya!

To all wonderful Any Soldier junkies.
I flew to Texas to welcome my son Sgt. Turner home this week. I wasn't able to get there in time for the official celebration (fog machines and lous music as they ran into the auditorium!) but still got to see him and spend a couple of days taking him to dinner and having some beers. As I was hugging Ian ...

bob,
No one could ever doubt that you would trade everything to have Rick back. No Jeep, bank account or anything else for that matter is a fair trade for your boy. But the reality is, Rick made plans in advance for you and I have to believe he would love the Jeep. I also believe what you are feeling is "normal". I have been really ...

Karie,
Welcome to the site! I don't visit the site regularly, but do read the posts ocasionally and saw your msg. My son has been in the Korengal Valley of Afghanistan for almost a year with Viper Co. He has personal experience with the PG and says that there are few problems when they are escorts. Those situations have gotten less press and so are less likely these days. Marty said it best when he told you to ...

First, to Bob...My son's brother is my brother. My son was in the battle and was among those that went back to search for Rick. He told me yesterday,,,,,,
"he did everything right... a good soldier who didn't get a little luck when he needed it."
No words can express my sorrow, but if prayers bring you comfort, ...

Kathy,
My son Ian considered John his very good friend and was devastated by his loss. Ian told me that "Penich was one of the best soldiers I have ever fought with. A natural leader, respected by his men and funny as hell." Well, words to that effect anyway. Thank you for posting this and know that John's memory will stay in the ...

Joanne,
I understand completely and am so pleased that so many are doing so much for so few. (apologies to Sir Winston...) I rarely post here, but I do read fairly often and I am greatful that Viper Co. has such great support. I can only share the perspective I have gained from my son's emails and occasional calls. There is no way we can ...

I talked to my son, (Sgt. Turner) last night and got an e-mail this morning. He couldn't say who was hurt, only that it was less than 4 and they will all be fine. If I may touch on the resupply issue...The resupply convoy was blocked by a slide on the road and had to turn back. There were other issues that can't be discussed here. There is ...
