  • Re: Stolen Gear

Ann, can you change the thread's name to add the contact name?  Maybe we could use this thread to try and coordinate efforts.  I would just hate to see them end up with seven Christmas trees and not what else they need.  I have a soccer ball and pump along with board games I can send.  I also can send quite a ...

  • Re: Phone cards and/or other gift cards

I haven't sent gift cards, but I send phone cards in an envelope with a nice card.  You don't have to fill out a customs form for letters or cards.  As for where to buy gift cards from, I'm sure your contacts or other supporters will have suggestions.  Since they won't be physically using the gift cards, you ...

  • Re: types of books

It's great that you want to send books.  They will be greatly appreciated.  In my understanding/experience with other organizations, AS contacts, and deployed friends there is an over-abundance of romance novels of all types sent to troops and they are the least desired.  I wouldn't send ANY based on the feedback ...

  • Anyone using AVG and having trouble with viewing the contact pages?

I've been using AVG for months and have had no problem viewing any of the contact pages, but today they were all blocked.  (I don't know if it's connected to the new pop-up, but I changed my settings to allow it and it made no difference.)  I am getting a pop-up from AVG that says blocked access and no explanation ...

  • Re: Bath & Body Works Semi-annual sale

Thanks, Anna.  Unfortunately the store near me had a very limited men's collection and only had the linen scent in a spray left.  However, I did find a travel size of Victoria's Secret conditioner for dry/damaged hair for $1.00 for my girls while I was at the mall.  It's a nice conditioner for the price so I stocked up ...

  • Re: Request for Face & Body Scrub Recommendations

I think St. Ives makes a decent Apricot Body Scrub that's relatively cheap.  My mother sells Avon so I've sent a lot of the Planet Spa items from them.  They also have several foot care items that have gone over very well.  You can find scrubs lots of places.  Bath and Body Works may even have some on sale now at ...

  • Re: Bath & Body Works Semi-annual sale

Did anyone find any good deals on male hygiene products?  Although my guys said they'd use lavender-girlie stuff if that's all I had as it was better than nothing, I'm hoping to find some good sales on masculine scents.

  • Re: Do you resend to same people?

I tend to chose contacts requested fewer times and then support them througout their deployment.  Although I try to keep in mind that the number of times requested can be skewed by people that request and only send one package or one letter, I can only support so many at once and the number of requests is often a deciding factor.  ...

  • Re: Flat rate box

I think the confusion is that there are actually now 3 different sizes of Flat Rate Boxes. The smallest of which is $4.95.  The box measures 5-3/8" x 8-5/8" x 1-5/8". The maximum weight for it and the envelope is 4 pounds. I still have to enter the package as if it were a Flat Rate envelope on the shipping assistant site to ...

  • Re: Anyone have an extra pair of running shoes - 9 1/2W mens?

If anyone lives near an outet mall with a Nike or Reebok store, they usually have good shoes for good prices.  I've purchased decent cross trainers, which would probably be better for the terrain there than a basic running shoe, for $29.99.  Often they are marked down 50-75% so they are decent shoes. Sometimes Kohl's or ...
