• Leaking packages...

I sent off my first soldier boxes today, 3 in all, and had no problems with the USPS employee at all. She skimmed over the label which had ATTN: ANYSOLDIER(TM) in the attention line and said nothing. So woohoo! Small victory. I was worried about that. The problem I ran into was completely MY FAULT! After...

  • Re: New Customs Forms
Thanks for this info, BUT, I went to the site, got the APO/FPO version and tried it out with 5 items and one of my addresses. It didn't work! The reply was "unable to process your request--fill in all the blanks". Well, I had and I don't know what's...

  • Re: New Customs Forms

I always generalize and simply do not say much. I would say snacks, books and leave it at that. I have never had a box refused. I also do not put much $$ down. I usually say between $25 and $30 so as to not invite theft. I was given this tip quite a while ago so. I think the less said the better.

  • Re: Rate Increases on Flat Rate Boxes Jan. 18th

Thanks for the note. I was wondering why they charged me $11.95 this morning. I took some satisfaction in seeing my little box had 14+ pounds of items packed in there. The gal at the service counter did a double-take when she picked it up

  • Re: Shaving Cream question

I wanted to give my take on this post. My son is stationed in Anaconda and he just told me he has more than enough. "I don't know how I am going to pack all this stuff," he said. Shaving cream - I kept hearing that canned shaving cream is not allowed. But he said everyone gets them. I told...

  • New to this... PO problem.

Hello everyone! I'm new to this and I want to say thank you for all of the educational posts about shipping! I've learned a great deal and already set up an account with the USPS so that I can order my supplies online. I took my very first package to the PO today only to come back home with it...

  • Reminder: New Postage Rates May 12, 2008
When we found out stamps were going to $.42 on May 12, I started asking my local postal clerks how the FRB's would be affected--even as late as this past Saturday they said they didn't know--said they were always the last to find out any postal news and that I...

  • Re: post office lady tells me that APO boxes are only for shipping to APO's

It certainly pays to be informed ahead of time. I had a problem shipping in a designated APO/FPO box today (the 12" X 12" X 5.5" box). The postal worker weighed it and was about to charge me $20! He said I would have to repack it into the large Flat Rate Box (FRB1?) to get the lower rate...

  • Re: Suggestions from a Post Office employee's spouse
I understand that this extra step of printing off PO policies should not be necessary, but remember PO employees are not always given timely information that they need to perform their job properly and you will be part of the solution by providing them with the correct...

  • Re: Another misinformed postal worker
. The post office lady acts like I'm a real cheap skate. She told me that parcel post will take weeks (maybe 4-6 weeks) to get there. I just feel really confused.
The 4-6 weeks sounds ridiculous if you are shipping to a 'AE' address from Queens. The...
